Ergogenic aids: work-enhancing agents that are used in attempts to increase athletic or physical performance capacity.


Ergolytic effect: an agent or substance that may lead to decreases in work productivity or physical performance.


Essential amino acids: those amino acids that must be obtained in the diet and cannot be synthesized in the body.


Essential fat: fat n the body that is an essential part of the tissues, such as cell membrane structure, nerve coverings and the brain.


Essential fatty acid: those unsaturated fatty acids that may not be synthesized in the body and must be obtained in the diet. e.g. linoleic fatty acid


Exercise intensity: the tempo, speed or resistance of an exercise. Intensity can be increased by working faster, doing more work in a given amount of time.

Exogenous : Originating or produced outside of an organism, a tissue, or a cell.
