Essential Aminos vs BCAA

What's everyone's thoughts on EAA's? I've always only taken BCAA's.

Who's taking what and when?

I got hooked on a facebook ad special for a product called Bodyhealth perfect Amino in tablet form. Tough to say if it's doing anything.

Here is the thing brother. If you are doing whey protein I am not sure you need them. Now, if you are supplementing between shakes and maybe grab a PB&J for lunch EAAs would be more beneficial as the sandwich has protein but it is incomplete.

I say if you are going to do aminos, why not do the EAAs. They have the BCAAs and all the rest. Really I just do whey as it is has 100% complete amino profile containing all of the BCAAs and EAAs.

I just wonder if for us weekend warriors if there is enough difference to justify the cost of either, not that it is truly expensive. Whey is pretty cheap, helps me feel fuller when I am eating smaller portions, complete aminos and is fairly low cal.

FWIW I personally notice a dramatic reduction in DOMS when I have an intra-workout shake with EAA's and HBCD. That's the only time I use them though. I can't drink protein powder of any kind without significant gastric distress but handle EAA's and BCAA's just fine which makes them invaluable to me.

Yeah hydrolyzed collagen is also part of my intra-workout shake and it doesn't upset me either thankfully. I take that in an attempt to keep my joints and tendons healthy though, not under the illusion that it will help to build muscle.

Layne Norton made a video last week summarizing the possible benefits of collagen I found pretty helpful. Basically, it might benefit cartilage, skin, nails, etc, but is crap for building muscle https://youtu.be/9VMQEvp5QJQ

Interesting thread fellas. My wife does the collogen protein stuff. i looked at it briefly but never tried it for anything.

I reckon EAAs would make a good intra workout, but I do not train long enough for it to do good.

Bubba have you tried a straight hydro whey? I have a buddy that even with high quality whey blends has gut probs but started using straight hydro whey and has zero probs now. I am sure you have, just throwing that out in case.

I like the idea of EAA's with peanut butter sandwiches. I eat a lot of those sometimes when I don't feel like cooking (or nothing is cooked for me rather lol) and knowing that I can absorb the meal better makes it more worthwhile to me.

It's not always about digestion, what's really important is ABSORPTION!
