That sounds like a plan right there. Cutting MOST sugar is good. Fruits and such would be ok?

Just get rid of the stuff with high fructose corn syrup. It's hard.

actually you can have different type of bread such as sourdough bread which digest slower, better and full of protiotics.

As for sugar, I get rarely refined sugar during my week, all my sugars and carbs come from veggies and fruits

How do you eat Ezekiel bread? I have had toast and it is VERY dense. I like it but I like texture of the whole wheat bread better.

I like that Ezekiel bread's glycemic index # is really low. Like Vandoo said sourdough is 55-60 where as coarse whole grain bread is 50 and Ezekiel bread 35ish.

Seems like a good idea cutting out sugars. How do you use it?

Hun, with all the dietary restrictions your putting on your diet its gonna be a very boring limited set of choices to eat... example being vegetarian would make it tough but being a no sugar vegan carves out potatoes sweet potatoes most rice, beets, strawberries, watermelon... all are high sugar content foods... what's the reason for the change hun?

I love Ezekiel, it's usually the only bread I eat. I can't find it here but I order it online. They don't only make bread but also muffins, buns, cinnamon and raisin bread.

MG how are you staying healthy? I'm not knocking you I just really want to know. Vegan diet is pretty limited. There are a couple in my family and they smash carbs like crazy and don't understand why they don't look good. A lot of their alternatives for meat are carb sources. Some vegetables and they're little to no nutrient vegetables too. Instead of chicken, they use cauliflower. No thanks. Now you're probably smarter dietary wise then they are. Are you relying heavily on supplementation? Like A1 said you're restricting so much already. This idea sort of makes sense to me since I cut dairy and sugar when I start trimming down, but I still have a balanced diet which is the most important part. How are you keeping your diet balanced without it being a struggle? What is your purpose for doing all of this? The body cannot stay healthy when important macro sources are cut from ones diet. This causes heavy supplementation which is not the healthiest option either. I don't understand how eating this limited is for health reasons because it is not healthy. Medical issue?

Please do not be offended by my post MG. I'm really just trying to figure out what causes one to make such drastic dietary changes. I might be able to help you out if I know what you're goal is. You can pm me if you don't want to post here.

My goal is to stay healthy. I was a vegetarian since the 80's after being anorexic. I struggle to eat. I decided to try being a vegan because I hate the way animals are treated and the effect of intensive farming on the environment.

I'm not sure where you are from, but have you looked at local farms if you were to eat meat again? Somehere where you know the animals aren't being treated horribly. I know it is messed up a bit when you actually sit back and think about it, but that is the way the ecosystem is set up. By intensive farming I think you're referring to the industrialized food industry? This applies to plants also. The land used is not allowed to rest for the soil to replenish its nutrients, which is why today farmers are reliant on supplementing nutrients into the soil. It's good to see that you overcame anorexia. That must have been a struggle. If possible maybe I'd suggest looking into a local farm. If it's possible try and get some good chicken into your diet. It doesnt have to be a ton or everyday, but your body will thank you for it. I understand your reasoning, but depriving yourself from a very important food source because of your views, doesn't save any animals, nor is it going to change the way things are done. It is messed up. I agree with you there, but I need to live as well, and want to thrive in what I do. Without proper nutrition it just isn't possible. Either way I respect your position, but please at least try to start adding in a legitimate protein source. I guarantee you will see a change in your body, which proves it's necessary.
