Yeah, I'd prefer to have quality ammo I can rely on. I bought a no-name ammo can of 9mm at a gun show once. I think it was 500 or 1000 loose rounds. Every 2nd round jammed. What a waste.

I have taken a caliper to some of those no-name ammo cans and found them to be quite different in length (a few mm). Short rounds can cause pressure issues that interrupt the cycle of operations and long rounds will not seat/chamber properly. This is why I prefer to reload as much as possible. However, rounds like 5.56 are not really cost effective to reload. It costs me about just as much to make a round as it does to buy it.

One of these days I'm going to have to invest and learn how to do reloads myself.

I have had good luck with some of the cheap russian stuff like silver bear or tula. I prefer m85 5.56 for the AR. It is fairly cheap and well made. For 9mm i have had great luck with freedom munitions. I have only used 9mm from them but never had a prob and gone through 1000 rounds

I like Bear and Tula for my AK. Never used them in my 5.56, but I am sure they shoot fine. Problem is the brass is not reloadable. Not that I would reload them anyways, but I cannot sell the brass.

Yeah, none of my AK rounds are brass either. I store about 1500 rounds of Wolf ammo. Never had a problem with it.

My AK is chambered for 5.56. It used AR mags. So far it shoots the cheapest lacquered steel cased stuff like a champ. I will say that when shooting the cheap stuff vs brass cased USA ammo the flash from the muzzle is very inconstant with the cheap. sometimes it spits fire, sometimes it does not. The high quality stuff always has minimal flash

(Short barrel AK pistol M85 PAP)

It has been 100% since i got it. it has always gone boom and always cycled.

You can sell old brass at metal recyclers, just save up a few pounds and get some beer money. Brass is probably going to rise some off off of the tarriffs on foreign metals driving up domestic metals.

can also sell it to reloaders. Probably get more from them. I never accumulate enough so I give it to my neighbor's son who reloads. He will give me 50 or so completed cartridges for every 500 5.56, 9mm and or .45apc I give him.

We had an entire conex of Wolf ammo show up in Nangahar one time and it was dogshit .... I don't know how long it had sat around but most of it was rusty and it wouldn't run for shit. I mean seriously, it was bang..... tap, rack, clear.... bang, tap, rack, clear......

We never got another load of that. Maybe it was stored too long somewhere or something but I swore I would never rely on that shit again...
