Yea...I always plan on lifting 4 months straight then taking a couple wks off but seems the strength increases and the doing more and more sets takes its toll. I have to give the body a break(CNS etc..)sooner. If I go off for more than 2 wks then every day is more difficult to get back in the gym.

I take days off as needed if a workout is to intense and I overdo it, enough of life seems to happen to make me take a break and recover even if it wasn't planned in advance

I lift heavy three days a week in general. I always go to failure the last set of any exercise!

After 2+ months I need a CNS break, especially at 40+.

I never lift light, so once every 2 months I need a week break.

I maxxed on all core lifts this week(Bench/Deadlift/Leg presses).

So this maybe my time to take time off.

I will be stronger when I come back. Just have to make sure after missing zero days, that I come back strong and just on time.

Anybody else take time off on purpose?

Anyone who doesn't take time off on purpose is a newbie. I use 3 weeks on 1 week 1 protocol. Very simple, my body will tell me if I can go more or go less. However, 3 weeks is usually on the money

Its a core lift when you are born with a Spina' Biphida, otherwise known as a whole in your spine that nerves hang out of. Not to mention that being over forty my back is not even half of what it was at its best.

I cant do squats, peroid
