Buddy of mine went out to the same area i fished and caught 7 bass and two fat ass crappie on a reg and orange spinnerbait with a single red colorado blade. Bass were all tourny keeper size up to 4 #s. (He said both crappie were over 2 and FAT with eggs)

I was useing chartreuse and white spinnerbait with 2 gold blades. My normal go to for this color water.

Cloudy and post front today. I think I will stay in.
Inshore Saltwater Gel and Garlic Shad.

Yeah I am trying to be more open minded in my hobbies to make me better. Too much of "I have always did it this way" mentality has hamstringed me in the past in both fishing and hunting.

I have to be open minded as bad a fisherman as I am. I may order some of that. I read good things.

The smell stays on forever. This includes your hands, clothes, tackle bag, etc...

I wash my hands with vinegar and salt. Takes the smell of fish oil right off.

Give it a try.

Haha. I will, but it usually does not bother me. My wife on the other hand complains as soon as I walk into the house. Only fish smell I cannot stand is Bluefish.

I love using my grape salamanders 6" or 9" when they are finicky. Or even my jig and pigs (but use large soft plastics)
Then move on to my spinnerbaits with a small crappie curly tail plastic to give it a tad more action.

My nephew uses a "Zoom" split tail soft plastic and catches bass from 1/2 pounders to some hogs. That's usually the only thing he'll bring when we go around the neighborhood to a bunch of home owner ponds.
This year, I'd like to set up a large aquarium with fish from around here.
The wifey and I are going to hold a large yard sale.. hopefully I'll make enough to buy the tank. I've seen a few on craigslist that I could afford.
The air pump and filters I already have from previous tanks. I have enough spare wood in the garage to build the stand.
All I need is the tank itself.

I'm also going to try using soil in that tank. This will be a first for me.
Plus I'll dig up a few lily pads up at the lake .. maybe a few pieces of drift wood.
Make it as close as to their natural habitat as possible.

Never smelled a bluefish. Handling shad from a cast net for bait is pretty nasty.

Bass, me and my son are aquarium hobbyists. Best to not use soil. the fish will keep it stirred up all the time. I know. I have also used blasting media and pool filter sand. Both work well for small fish.

If you have bluegills, bass, cats or such best is NO substrate for the bottom. Plant lily pads or such in pots Obscure the pots with wood or rock

I have 3 tanks. one has nothing on the bottom and it is by far the easiest to maintain with a big hang on back filter.

Oh yeah, heavier pea gravel will work fine but fish root in it and they will root up plants. Especially bluegill/ sunfish and cats.

Still harder to clean.

They are disgusting.

Haha. I have not used my cast net since 2015 and it still smells.
