Caught my first largemouth last night. Fishing from the bank, I set the hook on a bump and my worm and a clump of moss came flying out of the water. Well it was not a clump of moss but a 5" bass who had clamped on my zoom worm and did not release until yanked out of the water and flew 10 feet behind me. (My worm was 6", i do not know what he was thinking he was going to do with it)

He was successfully released and will some day grow to be big and strong and has hopefully learned his lesson.

I want a pedal kayak for covering more distance and being able to pedal against the wind while casting. But they are expensive and heavy. I will stick with my cheapo junk for now although my back always hurts after an hour or so.
I fish mostly rivers and small lakes, so I have no need for a pedal drive. I thought about getting one when I was on the coast, but did not want to drop $3000-5000. They have really come down in price now that companies other than Hobie offer pedal drives. However, if you plan on fishing salt I would stick with the Hobie. The mirage drive does not get torn up from the salt like propeller drives do.

I have tried fishing salt but never done it. I would never buy one new either.

I see used ones for half the original MSRP. I like smallish ponds but even then most around here are small lakes, lots of open water and wind. Our reservoirs like the one i live near are HUGE. It takes 20 minutes to paddle from the put in just into a cove slightly protected from the wind. I fish on the lee side of the dam when the wind is out of the south. Still get swirls and gusts from the east frequently.

These are super cool but damned expensive. Thought about useing my 19.2 volt cordless drill with a prop just to cover open water faster. Boats are our biggest prob with open water. I have been swamped by stupid drunk ....s wakeboarding. thought it would be funny to swing in close and drench me. I did not care about the spray from the board as it was summer but the wake from the boat was so big I could barely see over it. I stayed on but my pack, water bottle and misc. got washed out. This was 2 years ago.

Went again last night for some cats and a couple brews with buddies. I got one bite and a friend caught one 15" channel cat. It sucked, post cold front, north wind, blue skies. Seems like I always fish when it is not favorable. That is why I need to retire so I can fish when it is good.

I feel your pain. I have looked at the torqeedos before, but if I was going to motorize the yak I might as well get a boat. Missouri doesn't require registration of kayaks unless you place a motor on it. Any type of trolling motor requires registration, dumb.

Same here. I met a guy last night wearing a yakangler.com shirt, we started talking and he has a 14 footer with a 45# thrust motor on it. He can stand in his and fish. i could not get that big beast on top of my car. i bet it weighs #100

He is too far away to fish with.

Went again last night off my friend's boat slip. He has PVC fish attractors in there. I caught a crappie and a sand bass. both were too small to keep.

We had over 2" of rain in 2 hours on saturday and of course a cold front came through with the storm so it was again, chilly, blue skies, post front and chocolate milk color water. Caught em on a 1/8 oz black jighead and a chartreuse grub body. My two pals caught nothing. Last Thursday they caught 20 fat keepers after work in 2 hours.

I rarely get to go when they are biting good.

Sounds like the odds were stacked against you. Every time the weather warms up here we have had 15-20 mph winds. We had snow this last weekend, supposed to warm up into the upper 70's this week with high winds then the temperatures drop to 50 this weekend. I ....ing swear mother nature hates me.

same here, was in the 40s saturday morning and the sky opened up and it rained like God was pouring out a giant pitcher.

So far this coming weekend looks good. Windy but stable warm weather, if the water clears a little should be good.

Going out on a bass boat today. Will be windy as hell, had a major storm Wednesday night and post front. Basically very unfavorable conditions.

Beggars cannot be choosers. I will fish a spinner bait mostly as i can cast and reel. i prefer pitching plastics but I have zero luck when it is windy.
