you want to stagger your plantings of some veggies that onlly produce once like corn so that way you have corn maturing throughout the summer and into the fall

Your area has a lot to do with when as well as the plant itself.. Starting them indoors if you can will get a jump start..

Troop, look on some garden sites for your "zone" to know about planting times. Some will tell you everything you need to know about timing, hardy plants and lots more.

Here's one zone map I found in a quick search.

I wish I lived a bit further south, around here you plant seeds in peat pots under a sun lamp (no! not Arnold's kinda seeds) and let the veggies grow a couple months inside before you dare set them outside in may, then if the weather is just right you can get to harvest something late jume or early july....oh well there's beer and cheese year round...lol

My mom grew veggies and we had a lot of berries growing in the garden. The taste was much better .. and there were no pesticides on them!

Got a pal working in food service and he gets 5gallon pickle containers that can be made into bubble buckets and germinators. My apartment has southern exposure so we get sunlight all day. Its also upstairs so the deer dont get to it.

Just a few plumbing supplies, aquarium air pumps w/ check valves, a few tools and youre ready to go. Do a google search on bubble buckets. You Tube may have instructions as well.

I'm still not computer savvy enough to post links or pics yet, and no, I wont apologize for it

Last year I cleared out a good amount of space for my girlfriend. Tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, peppers, strawberries, fresh herbs and zuchini.. Always had fresh veggies to cook with. Some of the herbs were hard to finds that you won't see in a grocery store. Also used some very big planters for a few pepper plants.
