I decided my new AR build will be a .350 Legend.

Been reading about it. Great round. Amazing they can get a .357 round up to well over 2000 fps with a modified .223 case.

I have looked at ammo and it is expensive. I also looked at the old .30 cal carbine rounds for WW2 but they do not come near the performance of the legend.

Also looked at 10mm. It is damn near 1000 fps slower.

My question, wouldn't .300 BO and .350 legend have about the same ballistics?

They are fairly close. The .350 Legend is a little faster, hits harder (bigger bullet) and shoots flatter than the .300 BO when comparing FTX ammunition from Hornady. Of course that is with a 20 inch barrel for the .350 Legend and a 16 inch barrel for .300 BO. I am sure when you put these rounds in a 7.5-11.5 in barrel you would not be able to tell the difference.

The only thing I know for sure at this point is a 20 inch barrel. I want to be able to shoot deer out to 200 yards with it.

I'm a simple man.. I just want two wheel guns.. maybe a 44 magnum and a plinker 22 Cal that are easy to teach my daughter with.. next to no kick.

My 40 Cal scares her.. so that's out for now.. maybe after a couple hundred 22 Cal rounds.. she could then move up.

But the ammo is cheap, so you can spend 1/2 a day and it only costs you 10 or 20 dollars with the .22cal

A .22 would definitely help get her comfortable. I would set her up with a good 9mm over a .40 S&W. I am way past the .40 S&W craze. It does not really show any ballistic benefits over the 9mm, but comes with a snappy recoil.

I started my wife with a Walther P22. It handles like a centerfire but shoots like a .22. Most fun .22 semi auto I have ever shot and amazingly accurate and reliable.

After she shot that for a couple outings she went up to my CZ 75. Heavy but very little recoil and now she can shoot my 1911 (Of course .45 because I am not some heathen that wants a .38 super or such)

Also you can get intermediate full size pistols now in .380. Browning has one in particular that appears to be a legit 1911 just a baby caliber.

I think I would skip it though unless she is really "bang shy", and go to 9mm.

I agree

and also I found with my daughter starting small and then moving up was a breeze - she kind of just fell into each next step and really did well - she has no problem with either 9mm or 40 and shoots 12 gauges or rifles competently

I gave her a model 7 Remington in 243 and in 7 years shot 7 deer with 7 rounds
