You Need This Tip

I donít know who else here is meal prepping but I have a tip to make your diet a tiny bit easier.

I am currently down to 100 grams of rice in my meal prep per meal. I honestly just use the boil in bag rice and I am now using chicken broth in my rice instead of water.

Being on the road in my RV at the moment makes the microwave an invaluable tool for me.

So I am cooking my rice in chicken broth instead of water. Each 32 oz. container of Chicken Broth has 40 calories. I take the broth and put in in my container with 1 bag of rice and microwave it for 10 minutes and then let it sit in the broth for another 5 or so and then cook more rice in the remaining broth. I usually get 2 bags of rice per container of broth and end up pouring out the last bit of broth. I figure if I am getting 80% of the broth then 32 calories added with 2 bags of rice so 16 per bag and @ 100 grams, I get 4 servings per bag so I am adding only 4 calories per serving and it makes the rice SO MUCH BETTER !!

If you havenít, try this....

Nice!

However, I can only eat rice every once in a while. When I eat it every day I get heartburn. It doesn't matter how it is prepared or what kind of rice it is. I cut the rice out and switched to potatoes and the heartburn went away.

That's how I am with oatmeal. Burps and indigestion.

I thought everybody was doing this? Yep, it's way better. I actually like using vegetable broth more...most of the time. I just get the cheap Great Value brand from Walmart.

I'll add in a little tomato sauce, 1/8 of an onion, garlic, and some type of salt in it and just cook it up in my rice cooker. Sometimes i'll add in a 1/2 jalapeno. I'll also add in a little cumin or Mexican seasoning in with it, along with ~1/2 T Olive Oil as well. It all takes like 5 minutes to prepare, then just let it cook.

I guess the drier starches bind to the mucus in your stomach and decreases the protection from acid. If we ate like normal human beings it would not be enough to even make a difference, but we don't.

Maybe everyone else was hoping it would stay a secret..... I donít know. It never occurred to me to even try this until now and I was blown away that I have been eating plain rice all these years. If you guys have any other sorcery you would like to share, please feel free.

How do you prepare the potatoes? I thought about switching it up for a bit but the rice is so convenient.

Almost always. Rather than carry cans of broth you can use chicken bullion cubes too. A little more work to dissolve it.

For a tomato kick use Caldo de tomate and a little chili powder, cumin, garlic and onion powder for easy fast Mexican rice if you start to get tired of regular rice.
