Spring fishing thread

We had a warm stretch, all the snow cover is gone and the rivers are running fast and above flood stage. Supposed to be warm all week so hoping the water will come back down and they will be active. The neighbor didn't see much jigging for walleye just above rock ledges on the Wisconsin river, these usually produce well in spring right during spawn and after so we are a touch behind. Haven't heard anybody getting any bass action yet.

Damn, would love to catch some walleye. I have said it before. Best eatin fish in fresh water.

Supposed to be warm all week. LOTS of wind though. I bet this weekend will be killer.

I did not catch much good. Here is the best one I caught and my pal caught this one which was long and if fed up would have gone 6 probably but was skinny and had not got it's color yet.

My pal's deck is a jumble of rods but damn he can bass fish.

Nothing wrong with those two. Up here in the north, i'd be thrilled to catch either of those.

Thanks Bassy. I caught a 4 lb'r a few weeks ago on a jig a few weeks ago. Biggest bass I have caught in a long while.

I threw a line in the other week using a zoom super fluke.
It was the second cast and i caught a bass that was only about 2'x the size of the bait.

I was going to bring it home for my pond. But the dirty little devil jumped off the hook before i could do anything.. lol

This actually is not all of them. I have two in my truck and about another 15 in the shed..lol

I like those super flukes. They are perfect for areas with a lot of hang ups.

Nice bassy, I have who knows how many rods and reels. Mostly casting reels but I do have a few spinning. I love flukes but I started using more senkos rigged the same way, weightless or with a small 1/8th oz weight. They cast farther and work just as good in most situations.

Sometimes it is harder to set the hook on a small fish than big. A big fish has weight to let the point penetrate, little guys can get pulled without getting the hook through the lip. Next time you are out try one of these guys. I do not know how northern bass but this is my #1 soft bait for clear to stained water. Water melon red flake and I dip 1/2" of the tail in spike it dip-n-glo. I swear by chartreuse dip-n-glo. Even though it does not change the color I dip my black baits in it for the scent which is super strong.

I was supposed to be 50 miles out with 3 other people today that but the Capt called it off because of high winds. I'm ok with that. Rescheduled for next Saturday.
