I have not. All of mine are Spike's Tactical. The only issue I have had with Spike's lowers is that sometimes Magpul pistol grips can be a pain to get on.

I was wondering how hard they are to machine at home with stuff like a dremel and drill press.

Are they reliable?

I assume stock parts will fit on 80% lowers?

Will all uppers fit?

Looks like you can get a full aftermarket glock upper for $400 +- and an 80% lower for $150 with the jig. so for under $600 you can have an off the grid glock clone.

ARs are even cheaper. Full upper from PSA under $200 granted it is a base upper and you can build your own pretty high level upper for $150 more. Then the lower is under $100. You will need the parts kit but still come out about $400 for a base carbine.

anyway what do y'all think? I just like the idea of building one.

I keep one unbuilt in my go-bag with the files I may need and trigger assembly. The rest I can improvise if needed

Why not just build a take down model?

I still have not built one. I would assume they are good as the reviews appear good. I do not have a drill press to build one.

I have an AR kit to build, just haven't had the time.

I purchased a jig from 5d Tactical and router as recommended. Yes jig is expensive but I'd rather do it right the 1st time. I also figure I can build several once I get back into the garage.

That is the key. If you get a jig and build one lower then it is not worth it, but if you build multiple it really is cost effective.
