What do you think a nice medium free test level would be? 500? Im 53, just looking for thought on it. I read this, and it made me think...

I don't really see much evidence from life that Test or AAS are causing cognitive issues. I am more concerned with joint tissue, heart and kidney damage over time. On the other hand a lot of people really don't feel well on high dose test. Water retention, high BP, turning red, short of breath etc. For decades the dose that gives all the positive therapeutic effects gets the levels to 800 ng/dL. So I would say ~ 700 - 1100 ng/dL

I know a guy that is in his 50s and has been lifting more than 30 years, he competed and won the state championship in his day, and he tells me he keeps his test levels at around 600, he gets bloods every 6 months. He looks phenomenal year round, he could walk on stage right now and probably win. So 600-700 seems good for test levels.

Thanks
TMM

at 54, I think my sweet spot is 500-700, BP becomes an issue around 1100...

all are speculative based on blood tests and my "feel" for my body

So on the cognitive thing here is just my experience. I for years have used 25mg of test EOD and over the years my short term memory seemed to dissipate. So now I have backed off to 25mg with 3 days in between. I am getting blood work next week to see where that puts me. It may be unrelated, it probably is, but I am thinking more clearly than I have in years since reducing the dose.

i fluctuate between 800-900 ng/dl on the same dose of 125mg wk.

doc has me using enanthate now 2x a wk at 50mg dose. my total # did not change still between 800-900.

I feel better than one 125 mg dose of cyp 1X a week.

I did not ask why but now I am curious and will ask next time I go in and the doc is available. I experienced no cognitive issues even when I was starting out at 200 mg wk and i was 1,100-1,200. also from time to time I add 25-50 mg as I took 3 months off and banked the test. when i do this I feel really no different.

back when i cycled a gram a week I felt pretty normal. i think it depends on how your body reacts.

funny you ask this. I'm currently trying a natty restart because I a) got tired of sticking myself and b) think maybe 'normal' levels of 800+ was causing a lot of issues for me.

Now that I'm off, been +2 months now, and surely under 300 I can sleep and am not nearly as anxious. I'm sorta detoxing from all things other than OTC stuff like benedryl for sleep and I feel great in that regard. Downside is 185# on bench press and even squats feels like 300+ and my stamina is sh!t. Getting out of bed is MUCH harder than normal.

so, if I can't get a natty restart I'm going back and targeting a lower number like the mentioned 500-700 but it's certainly case specific.

fwiw, i was around 800 naturally into my 40's, energy similar to 20's just more diet dependent

from 50 on i lost 50 per year, and last year 380 or so and it hit me hard, just lackadasical

i am going hrt, first though, will not until i get a few good months of consistent training in, which still fluctuares, although last two weeks been the best in a year

true hrt is 800, over 600 imho is best, once i went below 600 struggles started, more of a consistency factor

short term memory, imho, mostly BS, i think the brain after all these years is pretty much auto pilot, and thus a ton of stuff it see's no need to file
