Protein before bed?

I used to take casein before bed when mass was my goal. On brand was by favorite as it was cheap. Do you think protein before bed helps. Obviously not whey as it is metabolized so quickly but a protein that takes a long time to digest and metabolize.

What about chicken or beef?

Here is a good article with an 8 wk study on casein.

I eat a big ol bowl of cottage cheese. The nights I don't, I wake up in the morning feeling like I'm starving.

Makes sense to me. I'll do a protein shake before bed but I have to be careful not to do it on a full stomach or I get acid reflux something fierce. Also sometimes I wake in the middle of the night and eat a peanut butter sandwich and tall glass of milk.

I used to do it when I as young and trying to gain weight. I’m not a hard gainer so putting on weight for me is the easiest thing. Conversely, my body absolutely refuses to cut weight and must be hammered into submission. For me, my diet is so very critical because of this. I a, not someone who can just eat whatever, whenever. For this reason, I choose not to eat at night. I can see the potential benefit as stated in the study but I also think that this study is very insignificant in terms of a scientific study. I think if you need to gain, bed time is a perfect time to utilize something heavier. When I was 20, I would set a clock and get up at night and eat 2 roast beef sandwiches and go back to bed. I ate like crazy back then and my body just loved it. So for me, if you can handle the calories and the intake then I say hello yeah.

That is a whopping 2 grams of protein MG!

I either ate plenty of protein right before bed, ate a protein bar or drank a shake my last cycle and I must admit is was a great cycle. I think the available protein really helps.

Q-ball that is the right link. Worked for me. Try again.

HAHA Darkness.

Para, I used to use some nighttime blend of protein that was supposed to release for 8 hours. I could tell no diff so I used casein. Now I do nothing as my prob is not gaining mass but gaining fat. I just eat dinner and nothing else.

My kid eats 6-8 meals a day and drinks 1/2 a 2500 calorie weight gainer morning and then night before bed after he trains. The kid is still a stick figure HAHA
