Age catching up with us

I know this is the power lifter area

But it's where my joint issues began and years of being the no guts no glory type

So at 42 my dumb younger years is catching me. I'm sore all day my knees kill me and my lower back is always stiff when I wake up.

I've taken the last 3-4 months off from the gym to see if stuff "heals" (whatever that means at this age).

I'm going back Monday morning for a humbling experience, which is fine.

How many of you older guys feel this way? I know 90% of you guys are still chemically enhanced but even when I was still using shit hurt.

back 15 years ago in my early-mid 30s, I loved power lifting. I was never competitively strong but to average guys I was a monster. it cost me though now in my late 40s. back, hip, knee, and shoulder probs plague me.

I miss it sometimes. I think maybe I can start back and stay light. I can't so I won't........again, I miss it a lot.

There comes a time to adjust goals. Maybe back is shot and knees are banged up. Get into sprints or if thats too much do sprints up hills on a bike. Many many things you can do to hold muscle, add function and avoid further degeneration. We all have to listen to our bodies and adjust.

I am only a couple years behind you Ozzy and I can tell you my shoulders, knees and hips are worn out. I have been lucky enough to protect my back. This is why I completely stopped lifting heavy. As long as I can pull the bow back and drag the deer out of the woods I am as strong as I need to be.

Just wait, it keeps getting better. 2 shoulders surgically repaired, lower back and neck issues, right knee problems, arthritis in fingers and joints from years of abusing my body coming back to haunt me.

Having come to supplementation later in life I'm not in bad shape with the exception of the knees, but they were bad long before I did any of this... right now I'm in a sweet spot, I think I have things figured out to just cruise and be happy.... hope you find yours brother.

45 and I feel the effects from earlier.... I always trained smart and safe so I have little nagging aches and pains but nothing so grave as to make me take time off.... I have modified training as I age......
Last week I recruited one of the trainers at my gym ( he's a professional, not some 3 week guru) to do rehab/mobility work on my shoulders .... good deal, $45 and hr, and I only needed him to show me how-to once thru, now it's on me to follow through and continue.... I can also book him if I need some extra help
I would recommend anyone use these resources if they are available at your gym. ... I'm glad I did

Get ready for the magical mystery tour.

Around 50 you will magically wake up and some part of your body, with no warning, is out of whack, and for why, who knows, it will last 3 days to a week and be gone, never to return...................then six months will go by and one day you will wake up...........

I was always a marathoner not a sprinter, and I knew it would pay off later in life, fairly good injury wise, a few naggers, yet for 59 not bad.

Actually in certain ways thankful i was never physically gifted enough in all area's to play at a super high level, i know I would have wrecked myself all to hell with my mentality..............
