Comprehensive list

So how much of these things do you have? Man I have a lot of holes in my inventory. My water storage is 6 months overdue for replacement. I have been trying to cook the beans and rice that are 2 years old but have not replaced them. Makes you think.

why not put the beans and rice in sealed Mylar bags with a oxygen absorber?

I did but they still degrade over time.

even with O2 absorbers this only stalls or slows mold growth. better to use or discard and start new.

I guess that would not pertain to me. My storage area stays between 50-70 degrees and under 30% humidity year round.

still will not last forever. good to rotate every couple of years for best nutritional value.

It's as expensive as hell but I've been mostly going with freeze dried for years now. 20 years plus for shelf life, after that, it sloooowly uses nutritional value. But still good. The other great thing bout freeze dried is that it's super light and easy to carry in a bug out situation. My philosophy is to have at least a month's worth of freeze dried and slowly accumulate more over time.

Some stuff can't easily be freeze dried so dehydrated is the next best thing.

After that, I buy shit that has a long shelf life. I don't buy shit to have gourmet meals. Just enough to give me calories I can choke down.

My idea is to have enough on hand to get me through and deal with shit at hand until I can find another sustainable food source.

I'm always open to new ideas! I love this shit! Lol

My garage is stacked full of canned goods, at least a years worth. I don’t care about expiration dates, if I’m in need I’ll eat the hell out of some beefaroni or beanie weenies.

Nate highly processed food like that (spam and such as well) last longer than canned veggies although they can be good for decades.

DUDE! I didn't see solar panel/charger on the list. Or maybe I missed it? That is an absolute total necessity and it should be in your bug out bag along with a GPS and satcom and or handheld radio for COM. Gotta gotta gotta have for recharging headlamps/batteries/and all other bug out items. They make small ones with decent wattage.. fold up, roll outs, you name it. You want something you can hang of your backpack while hiking.

Just some thoughts...
