Rotator cuff injury and shoulderblade pain

I have been in pain for weeks but kept on training. I found it tough to put my clothes on or grab something from a shelf. I had 3 physical therapy sessions but the pain was still there. GP diagnosed a rotator cuff injury and shoulderblade pain irradiating into the neck. His advice: to stop lifting weights for good and focus on cardio training. Not sure I can do that ...

Does that mean that I should stop lifting for good?

I was in the same place you are now. I have 2 completely torn rotator tendons. They are redacted to the point that surgery isnít practical. I seen a shoulder expert. He gave me a long acting cortisone shot to treat the pain and told me to continue lifting. I also started taking cbd oil. 7-8 months later Iím pretty strong again and pretty much pain free. My muscle took over a good deal of the tendons workload.

Like every injury you get MG, you refuse to stop to let it heal even a little. FOr you, YES STOP FLIPPIN LIFTING to at least let it try to heal some, then see. I mean no shoulder/pushing lifting for at least a month, then try again and see if that helped any.

Then start rehabing it if it works, do the standard rotator exercises in moderation to strengthen it back up.

agreed. R.I.C.E Rest Ice Compression Exercise. There's not much you can do for compression but for exercise let it calm down the range of motion stuff and stability exercises

MG you attempt to push through a lot of injuries and only cause them to get worse. Yes, I know you have followed my log and I have worked through injuries, but the difference is that I always work around the injuries. You try and blast right through them. You think taking a couple days off will help, but it takes much longer than that with many injuries. I have taken months off from training or avoided that body part for months. Does it suck? Absolutely. However, what else can you do? Just keep pushing and end up worse off.

Another thing to look at is your age. When a 20 something year old guy has an injury they recover fairly quickly. I am not going to try and guess your age, but I know you are older than me, and I know I cannot recover like I did 20 years ago. Continue to do your cardio (as long as it does not aggravate your knee), do bodyweight exercises and light band work.
