Fish oil or flax?

I take a lot of fish oil and also use udo's flax. I think these omega 3s help reduce inflammation and the EDA and DHA in the fish oil protect the brain as well. ALA in the flax is heart healthy as is the fish oil.

Do you supp with fish or flax?

Found this article about fish oil and cancer. Another great reason to supp with a high quality fish oil.

I use Kirkland fish oil caps (8-10 caps per day....4-5 am and then at night), but also add some ground flaxseed into my protein drinks. I can't stomach the liquid flax, it grosses the fukk out of me, and it goes rancid too easily for me to hassle with it.

Krill oil. In order for flax to work best it has to be reduced from O6 to O3 your body can only convert about 15% of the O6 leaving approx 85% circulating in your system. High circulating O6 has been implicated in some types of cancers.

I stay away from fish oil because of the burps. I add flax seed oil to food and smoothies.

Fish oil without a doubt.

After using 50 + grams of flax seed oil everyday for 5 years or so my Omega 3 index ( tested by blood work ) was at 3%....it's should be at 8%. Flax seed oil does not convert worth a shit.... it didn't in me anyway.

After a couple month of using 10 grams of fish oil per day my omega 3 index shot up to 12%

If you use enteric coated capsules you probably won't have a fishy aftertaste.

MG, look for burp-less fish oil. I bet this could help you a lot. unless you are eating a bunch of fish with high EPA/DHA then you are not getting enough.

liftsiron brings up a good point which I did not know. I do know that ALA does not convert readily to EPA/DHA for most western folk.

Anyway.

BMJ, I keep it in the freezer. it will stay good for 3 weeks

Lifts, have you seen any improvements with bloodwork while on Krill?

Seems that the quality is a big deal on who you buy from. I've also seen a lot of guys show improvements, and some guy's lab who just stayed the same over their regular routine without it, one guy had his get worse.

I hope they continue to do more research on it though as the current body is kind of slim, but I guess it does show some signs of promise. When I had gyno surgery back in 2007, along with my first umbilical hernia surgery, the doctor turned anestethialogist (sp, lol) swore by it's use. As part of the process they had me talk with him on how and what he was going to do and use to keep me under during the surgery, and he seen that my HDL was like 39 and told me I should try it. I never got around to it.

Krill got popular over at Professional Muscle about 1-2 years ago. It's kind of died down now though.

I use krill as a preventive supp, I have had really low lipids all my life. My HDLs are actually fairly low but the HDL to LDL ratio is really good.
