Miami, Ft Lauderdale are the two I fished. I am sure they are spread out but concentrated in those areas.

Was gonna flyfish for Mayan cichlids but did not get a chance. Also Tilapia are everywhere.

Tilapia, are they salt water? What can you catch them on? I'm really sick of eating them. It's all they have in the markets now. The prices went way up.

The Peakcock are they stocked? Is it possible to put them in lakes or ponds?
Or do they need running water like a river? I would love to put them in a few places I fish I have two farm ponds. I've stocked for 10 years with large mouth. I raised them on nght crawlers. cath 3-4 lbs on a regular worm.
They hit lures and rubber worms but they love night crawlers.

If I ever make it down to FL to fish, I will be sure to go after them. I still have to catch a tarpon from the kayak.

Estogen, tilapia are freshwater. A warm water species. People stock them in lakes here they all die in the winter as they start croaking off at 50 degrees.

I think peacock bass are the same as they are an Amazonian fish. They were stocked in the 70s if I am not mistaken and have proliferated. Also aquarium hobbyists letting fish go have created a "what will I catch now" down there in Miami and the surrounding areas.

Might catch an African walking catfish, red tail cat, or a giant gourami and even Pacu which are vegetarian piranha and get huge!

The lake my house is on here in FL that has peacock bass is brackish water (a mix of salt & fresh. More salt than fresh but less salt than the ocean)

Yes sir, they are super tough fish. Largemouth can be caught in brackish water too. Just not as salty as peacock bass.

Man I wanna go back to FL and fish for them. So much fun

Yep, when my dad was here he hooked into about a 4 pound large mouth and broke his pole. I have 4 poles but what's he do...an excuse to go to Walmart and buy another, lol. Love my dad

one of these from walmart is a descent durable combo that will serve you well. I would get a 6'6" medium action or the 7" MH action of you are slinging heavier lures. The medium is easier to cast but does not have the same hook setting power as the MH. Still it is my fav. Just set the hook harder.
