The topic was brought up on what are the best accessory exercises for a bigger bench. JM's were brought up as a top choice and I disagreed, for me, they are 2 dangerous at heavy weight and strain my elbows. There was a ton of good info on the subject and some science backing up concepts. So For what it is worth, he is a quick video of the meat and potatoes of a big bench(for me).
Floorpresses,
2-1/2" & 4" pinpresses(measured from the chest to the bar). Deadweight on the pins no rebound effect.
Close-grips with 100lb of chains. Brutal....The harder you push the heavier it gets.
Close-grip bench--closest accessory exercise to a competition bench. I bench narrow so I am in 2 fingers from my competition grip.

Thats my grip as well...i have long ass arms, ive tried wide...just never felt right. I always try and incorporate close grips in.

Do you do any slingshot work? Im just starting to mess with it.

I rotate them with board presses to overload my triceps with reps(3-5 reps). I think it is a good tool in getting a stronger push and saves some wear and tear on the shoulders.

Chest/ triceps
Odd workout, spent 10 hours in a car and judged a powerlifting meet this weekend. Got home and went straight to the gym.
Chest- 8 sets of 3 with 225(30 seconds rest between sets
Incline fly 90x10 for 4 sets
Close-grips
310x10, 405x4, 405x4, 415x2 paused, 225x33 & 225x31
Pushdowns 100 reps heavy weight several sets
Core work and done.

Didn't eat well enough or drink near enough this weekend, felt a bit stale especially on the rep outs.
