Keto vs intermittent fasting/16-8

I did keto a few weeks ago but decided that my stomach wasn't strong enough to digest all the fatty foods. I have been eating low carb afterwards and dropped a lot of weight (maybe because of all the cardio I'm doing). Today I tried something else. I had the usual meals yesterday + a bedtime snack and fasted until today at 4pm (I had an ultrasound and wasn't allowed to eat). As a result I was so starved that I had a big salad with pecans, gherkins, olives and lentils at 4:30. Just wondering if this is healthy (I know people drop weight by fasting for 12 hours or more).

Fasting does not help me loose weight. In fact I believe it causes me to gain weight.

You re extremely lean MG. I wouldn't suggest losing more weight. Not sure why you are fasting.

You're right, I was so hungry when I finally had my first and only meal yesterday that I ended up eating carbs and other foods I want to avoid. I need to find a way to do a vegan keto and get all the nutrients that my body needs. I might start eating eggs again if I really have to.

PS I had to fast for the ultrasound of the abdomen.

Fasting can help some loose weight but in many people it causes the "hungry" gene to be expressed. Has something to do with leptin. Simply your body thinks there is a food shortage so it makes you hungry to insensitive you to eat more when you do eat. It is a cave man gene.

Anyway because it makes you hungry you eat more in the meals you do eat so you may end up gaining.

That's exactly what happened yesterday. I hadn't eaten since Wednesday 9pm and after my ultrasound I was so hungry that I ate bread and crackers which are definitely a no no on my low carb diet

Cheating form time to time is OK. no reason not to enjoy life a bit. I am a bread-oholic. Give me some crusty italian bread and butter or olive oil and herbs and I will eat the whole thing and leave my lasagna untouched.
