Whey isolate is usually the gold standard of protein powders. They work well for a lot of people, some have issues, but it's really hard to say until you actually try one out for yourself. Get it from a good reputable company like True Nutrition or Optimum Nutrition, etc.

Gas can be caused by different issues....too much lactose, or bacteria feeding off of the amine groups and causing gas/bloat. It's usually part of the territory to a degree when increasing protein intake. The same can be said for mother healthy foods like vegetables and their different fiber contents....beans too. A larger bolus feeding of protein will take longer to digest, and the longer it sits in the process, the longer it will be exposed to microbial feeding, which will increase gas.
