Protein - 500 grams/day ????

1.5 to 2 grams a day sounds easy if you are a buck fifty, but......what about us bigger fellas? I am 6' 6" and currently about 280. I lift 4 days a week - each body part once and currently shoot for 300 grams a day. I want to try an experiment to see if 500 grams/day will make a difference? My questions...how soon should I be able to tell - in 2 weeks? 3? 4? Secondly, how the heck to get in 500 grams/day. How much/ how often can I digest?

I work nights 6p to 6a and am thinking something like this:
1700 wakeup - 50 grams whey shake
1900, 2100, 2300, 0100, 0300 - 50 grams each steak, chicken, tuna, etc
0500 50 gram pre workout shake
06-0700 work out
0700 50 gram post work out shake
0800 bedtime 50 gram cottage cheese
noonish - mid sleep wake up 50 gram shake !

0verall ten 50 gram servings. Thoughts?

Heck, I'm a girl & I eat 300 grams of protein a day unless I'm dieting! I never go under 250.

The other important thing is *what is your lean body weight?* That is the weight that needs 2 grams of protein per lb. You don't need to feed the fat, just the muscle!

Do you know your bodyfat %

i hear you on this one bro im 260 and i usually try to injest about 350 or so and seem to grow fine on this natty bnut when im on it's no holds bar on how much i eat if i tihnk i have room in my belly somethig will go in there to fil the space

I have this problem too. I'm only about 225#, but I struggle to get to 300-350 every day. Its tough find the time and money to eat as often as I need. Like james said, I shoot for 300 in 6 meals, and sometimes I can fit in another 50g late night. It seems to work ok for me. But I also think we are overlooking cowgirl's point - its lean mass that counts.

you have 500g of protein from your shakes alone. That combined with your other food. You will be in the neighborhood of 800g of protein. Do you realize that?

and 5 solid meals@ 50 gr each = 250

Try upping the protein in your meals. I know that 8oz of hamburger is 50grams of protein, try puttin in 10oz for all the meals instead of the 8oz you been eating.

Its not really that tough. I take in about 60-75g of protein each meal...and eat about 6-7 meals a day.
