Top 10 Amino Acid Supplements

This acid is one of the twenty that are usually found in protein from animal sources. This building block is changes into glucose to meet your energy needs.

2. L-Carnitine - This is naturally produced by your body, in the brain, the kidneys, and the liver. It is one of the non-essential type, and is a nutrient which is necessary to transport long chain fatty acids into the cell mitochondria for energy production. This nutrient is supplemented to keep the level of lipids in your blood stable and to promote heart health.

3. Valine - Valine is a form of this nutrient called a BCAA, or branched chain amino acid. It is used as a supplement to increase the muscle repair process, and results in a faster muscle healing time. This nutrient also helps to increase muscle growth when working out. All fibrous protein in the body contains this acid.

4. Tryptophan - This is one of the essential amino acids that come from the digestion of proteins. This nutrient is a precursor to the feel good neurotransmitter serotonin, as well as melatonin which is a neurohormone. This acid reduces the craving for carbs, as well as helping you sleep and causing relaxation.

5. L-Arginine - This nutrient has an important role to play in many bodily processes. Without adequate amounts cell division may not occur, your wounds would not heal properly, and ammonia could not be eliminated from your system. In addition your hormones would not be released properly, and your immune system function would suffer.

6. L-Cysteine - Found in most proteins and a core component to all life, L-Cysteine helps to break down any excess mucous inside your body, and also helps to detoxify you. This nutrient encourages the flushing of toxins from your body.

7. L-Lysine - L-Lysine is one of the essential amino acids, and your body can not produce this nutrient so it must come from your diet and supplements. Without this nutrient children will not grow or develop properly. Calcium absorption is also affected by the amount of L-Lysine in your body.

8. L-Tyrosine - Tyrosine is needed by your body to produce certain hormones, and these include epinephrine and norepinephrine, as well as the hormones produced by your thyroid gland including thyroxine. This nutrient has an effect on your neurotransmitters, and can improve your mood and appetite as well as growth.

9. L-Taurine - L-Taurine is non-essential, and this nutrient acts as a water-soluble antioxidant inside your body. It is also an inhibitory neurotransmitter. This acid also plays a vital role in many other systems and body processes. Supplementing this nutrient may be done to decrease the amount of free radicals and cell damage in your body.

10. Isoleucine - Isoleucine is another one of the branched chain amino acids. This nutrient helps your body to maintain muscle tissue and to repair any damage to these tissues.
